Join Us at the Back 2 School Community Giveback!

We’re thrilled to partner with Project sWish to create a special chess area at their Back 2 School Community Giveback event! Come be a part of this exciting day at the Dusable Black History Museum on Saturday, August 24, from 12 – 5 pm. This is a fantastic opportunity to engage with the community, enjoy some chess, and start the school year on a positive note.

We are looking for enthusiastic chess students to help out with the chess area. If you’re interested, please contact David Heiser at daheiser@cps.edu.

Aug 6 – National Nights Out

The 11th Police District is looking to bring the community together once again for a night of peace and fun on Tuesday, 06 Aug 2024, from  4pm-8pm at 3501 W. Roosevelt Rd. The event will have over 30 vendors, games, and resources for community members. Staff and students from our Cops & Kids program will be manning a chess area at the event, so come out play some chess and have a night of fun.

June 10-14 Chess Camp Recap

So inspiring to see the impact of chess on Chicago students’ development both academically and socially. This past week 42 students from 22 Chicago Public Schools from across the city spent the 1st week of their Summer Break learning and playing chess at our Knights Summer Camps that took place at Kelly HS located on the Southwest side and at Lincoln Park HS located on the North side of the city.

2024 – 2025 Chess Program Registration, List of Completed LOIs & MOUs

We would like to inform you that registration for both the Academic Chess and Cops & Kids Chess programs for this year is now closed. This decision is, in part, due to recent budget cuts. We appreciate the interest and enthusiasm from all participants and look forward to continuing to provide quality chess learning and engagement in the future.

Come join the fun in our free and exciting 1-week chess camps. Students need to have previous chess experience and must have participated in their school’s academic chess and/or cops & kids chess programs. We are using a selection process to determine a student’s level of chess engagement and participation.

K-8 Championship Results

After 5 rounds of intense competition, this year’s K-8 championship teams and individuals were crowned. All the players enjoyed the day and at the end they all walked away as winners having advanced to the final stage of the 2023-2024 chess season.
