We are excited to announce that the Department of Academic Competitions plans to send up to 13 CPS chess teams to the 2027 National High School (K–12) Championship, taking place April 2-4, 2027, at the Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center Hotel in Schaumburg, IL.
This is an opportunity for CPS students to represent their schools at a national-level event right here in the Chicago area!
🏨 Event Overview
- Dates: April 2-4, 2027
- Location: Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center Hotel, 1551 N. Thoreau Dr., Schaumburg, IL 60173.
- Eligibility: Grades 5–12
- Team Size: Up to 10 students per school (minimum of 6)
- Chaperones: Each school is required to send Two (2) approved adult chaperones
Our plan is for students to stay overnight at a hotel on both Friday and Saturday nights. However, we are still awaiting approval from CPS Administration for overnight accommodations. If approval is not granted, we will need to arrange daily bus transportation to and from the tournament, as was required last year.
