Thank you to all the schools and students who participated in Monday’s CPS Season Opener Online Tournament! We had a total of 76 students representing 16 schools across the district — a strong start to the new chess season.
In the Middle School/High School (MS/HS) Section:
🥇 Ryan Huang of Whitney Young Academic Center captured clear first place with a perfect score of 4.0. Following closely behind were Alexander Ouyang of Keller and Evan Villanueva of Sheridan, both finishing strong to round out the top standings.
In the Elementary (K–6) Section:
🥇 Nimalan Manmathasivaram of Skinner North claimed clear first place with a perfect score of 5.0. And there was a five-way tie for second place:

- Vivaan Patkar – Skinner North
- Micah Gostelow – Skinner North
- Shrihaan Bathula – Decatur
- Miesen Yang – Skinner North
