Summer Knights

The Summer Knights Chess Program extends the impact of Academic Chess into the summer months, giving students the chance to keep their minds sharp while school is out.

Open to 5-12th grade CPS students across Chicago, Summer Knights combines chess instruction, play, and competition with opportunities for teamwork, leadership, and personal growth. Students build on the skills they develop during the school year while enjoying a supportive, engaging summer environment.

Through daily lessons, practice games, and friendly tournaments, participants strengthen their critical thinking, focus, and problem‑solving skills—all while having fun with peers who share their passion for chess. Our camps also incorporate field trips, guest instructors, and cultural experiences to broaden horizons beyond the chessboard.

Summer Knights ensures that CPS students, regardless of background, have access to enriching summer learning that promotes both academic and social success.
